Wine Festival Encourages Responsible Participation
The Festival offers this program in conjunction with Barrington Wine Cellars, Fulkerson Winery and Juice Plant, and the Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Elmira. Designated Driver's (DD's) can purchase a discounted ticket in advance or at the gate, which will allow festival access without tasting privileges. Designated Drivers will be treated to complimentary premium grape juice products at the Barrington and Fulkerson booths and free sodas and water at the Pepsi display area.
DD's can shop for arts and crafts, view displays, attend seminars, watch demonstrations, dance to live music, and will even receive a complimentary souvenir tasting glass, but, of course, not until they are ready to leave the Festival. Designated Drivers who are observed tasting will be asked to leave the festival immediately.
The Schuyler County Sheriff's Department will again be working with Festival organizers to ensure the safety of guests by staffing a booth that will feature an opportunity for guests to test their own blood alcohol content (BAC) throughout the day. They will also operate a courtesy sobriety check point at the track's exit gate. Guests who should wait before driving will be offered the opportunity to switch drivers, call a taxi, or wait a bit before driving a vehicle. The Sheriff and staff will even be serving coffee and juices.
For those who prefer not to drive at all, the festival offers camping under the stars on the infield of the race track grounds. Weekend camping passes can be purchased at the festival for $45.00. The track's infield offers amenities such as showers and rest rooms, and live music Friday & Saturday night, and best of all, is conveniently located on Festival grounds!
Camping not your style? Terp's Enterprises will offer shuttle service to area hotels. For more information call Terp's at 607-795-4426.
Once a year, the festival organizers transform the world-renowned road course into the site of one of the East Coast's premier wine festivals. The Festival kicks off on Friday night with the Yancey's Fancy Cheese Launch of the Lakes toga party. On Saturday and Sunday over 75 New York Wineries will be on hand with tastings and sales, and in the center of it all - The Corning Museum of Glass' spectacular Hot Glass Roadshow. If you prefer a more relaxed tasting atmosphere, come on Sunday for all of the same great fun, food, music and wine!
