Sahlen's Six Hours of the Glen Just Got Bigger
Ten Races Will Run During the Weekend
The Soul of American Road Racing is set to open the 2007 season with one of its most action packed race weekends with the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, June 8-10. Watkins Glen International will showcase ten races and five different racing series including the featured Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series over the course of the event weekend.
Race fans can look forward to a day full of racing action on Saturday, June 9 when the green flag will not only drop for the 26th running of the Sahlen¿s Six Hours of The Glen, but also for the drivers of the SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car Championship, Skip Barber Racing, F2000 Championship and USERA Spec 9 Championship Series. That is five races in one day!
The action continues on Sunday, June 10 with Skip Barber Racing, SCCA Pro Racing SPEED World Challenge Touring Car and GT Championships, F2000 Championship and USERA Spec 9 Championship Series, each adding more excitement to an already thrilling event weekend.
The SCCA SPEED World Challenge is divided into two separate series (SCCA SPEED GT and SCCA SPEED Touring Car) and is North America¿s most exciting production car-based championship. SCCA SPEED World Challenge has been praised by the likes of Car & Driver and RACER Magazine for its close, action-packed racing, featuring standing starts and fields topping 30 cars per class. Fans will be on the edge of their seats watching more than 15 auto manufacturers battle for supremacy in races lasting a maximum of 50 minutes. Now in its 18th consecutive season, SCCA SPEED World Challenge returns to The Glen for the fifth time in its history and the first time since 1998. The Skip Barber Racing Series has been running for 30 years and is the largest open-wheel amateur championship series in North America. The four different regional championships - East, Midwest, South and West ¿ and arrive-and-drive format allow the series to be financially and geographically accessible for all aspirating drivers. The USERA Spec 9 Championship Series runs two classes designed around the Porsche 911. Group A consists of 2005 ¿ present showroom prepared Porsches and Group B consists of 1999-2005 GT3 Cups races cars. The series season will run 8 -10 sprint races that are 50 minutes in length.
