Rolex 24 Champions will challenge The Glen in 2007
WGI Fans Will Have Chance to See Stars Montoya and Pruett
The 2007 racing season got off to a fast start with an exciting Rolex 24 at Daytona and the thrilling road racing points to a great season at historic Watkins Glen International. Juan Pablo Montoya and Scott Pruett, teammates on the Rolex 24 winning No. 01 TELMEX Chip Ganassi with Felix Sabates team, will both hit the twists and turns of the legendary road course this season.
Montoya made his first appearance at The Glen during a Skip Barber SAAB Pro Series Race in 1994. The former F-1 star will take on The Soul of American Road Racing in a stock car for the first time during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series at The Glen weekend, August 9-12.
Pruett is one of the top road course drivers today and has had great success at The Glen. Pruett is a regular on the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series and drove to victory in the 2004 Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen and 2006 Crown Royal 200. He has four Top-10 finishes in the last five years as a driver in the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series including a runner-up finish in 2003. In 2006, Pruett competed in the Grand-Am Rolex Series Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen and Crown Royal 200, NASCAR Busch Series Zippo 200 and NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series AMD at The Glen.
This year Grand-Am comes to The Glen three times and fans will likely see Pruett in two of those events. The first chance to see Pruett and all of the stars of the Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series will be during the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, June 8-10. Grand-Am will return with the KONI Challenge Series during the Watkins Glen Grand Prix weekend, July 6-8, and then the popular Daytona Prototypes of the Rolex Series will run the short course during the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series at The Glen weekend, August 9-12.
