NASCAR Reserved Camping Sold Out
General Camping at Gate 7 and Gate 1 Going Fast
Going, going - gone! Camping sites during the NASCAR weekend at The Glen have been a hot ticket at Watkins Glen International for over 20 years, and this season is no different. The Soul of American Road Racing announced today that reserved camping sites during the August 9 -12, NASCAR at The Glen weekend are SOLD OUT! This is the earliest date that these popular locations have been sold out at The Glen in ten years. General camping passes during the race weekend are still available.
"We feel that we have one of the best camping experiences on the NASCAR circuit. Our fans have always enjoyed camping here and families traditionally reserve their camping sites early," stated Craig Rust, President of Watkins Glen International. "We have made improvements to the camping areas that we think our campers really enjoy." Last season, a three-year capital improvement project was completed that included upgrades to the restrooms throughout the facility. In 2004, showers were added to the camping area at Gate 1 and a family kids zone was also created close to the infield camping area.
The historic road course occupies close to 2000 acres of land and offers a variety of weekend camping opportunities during race weekends including NASCAR in August and the IndyCar Series in July. Reserved trackside camping can be enjoyed from both the infield and the outside of the track and historically sells out first followed by non-trackside campsites and general camping areas. Glen fans interested in general camping, where the early bird gets the worm - or - the best location when they arrive race week, should call now to ensure a camping space for the NASCAR weekend.
General camping during the NASCAR weekend can be enjoyed along the "Boot" through Gate 7 as well as outside the backstretch by Gate 1. General camping during the Watkins Glen Grand Prix weekend is also available in the infield. General camping passes are only $65 for the NASCAR weekend if purchased before Toyota Opening Day, April 29th.
Tickets for the entire 2007 season are on sale now and can be purchased at an advanced price until April 29th. This includes the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, June 8-10, the return of open-wheel racing during the Watkins Glen Grand Prix, July 6-8, and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup and Busch Series at The Glen, August 9-12.
