18 yr. Old Braun Signs New Development Deal
This is your first chance to catch Roush Racing's newest driver, Colin Braun, as he competes as driver of the No. 75 Krohn Racing Pontiac Riley in this weekend's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. Braun, is currently third in owner points going into this weekend's race at Watkins Glen International. Roush Fenway Racing announced earlier this week that they have signed 18-year old Braun to their driver development program. According to a press release issued on Wednesday he will be entered in select ARCA races in 2007, and will compete for Rookie-of-the-Year honors as well as the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship in 2008.
Braun raced at Watkins Glen International in 2006 during the Crown Royal 200 Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series race in August where he finished 9th overall with teammate Jörg Bergmeister. This year he has won the pole and the race at both Virginia International Raceway and Mexico City. He also finished 8th overall at Laguna Seca and the Miami Grand Prix.
"We're very happy to announce the signing of Colin Braun to Roush Fenway Racing," said team owner Jack Roush in a press release issued on Wednesday. "Colin has shown a tremendous amount of promise in the Grand Am series, and we're looking forward to seeing what he can accomplish in stock cars. Colin is a young driver who has shown potential both on and off the track, and we're happy that he will be part of Roush Fenway Racing going forward."
Braun will co-drive the No. 75 Daytona Prototype this weekend with 2004 Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen champion and teammate Max Papis. They will qualify for the race on Friday at 4:20 pm. The Sahlen's Six Hour of The Glen is scheduled to begin at 11:00 am on Saturday. Don't miss your chance to get the future stars' autograph along with all the drivers during our autograph session on Saturday at 9:00 am in the infield, near Turn 10.
