Herrington Leads Eventful Final Qualifying Session

Daniel Herrington (#44) posted a time of 1:38.4820 (123.190), just 0.3032 seconds ahead of Hideki Mutoh,s (#55) 1:38.7852 (122.812 mph). The second of two qualifying sessions for the Indy Pro Series Corning Twin 100s was interrupted numerous times incidents on the race track. On his first flying lap, Pole-sitter Wade Cunningham drifted wide exiting turn 10 and lost control as his machine as it slid over the grass, impacting the tire barrier on the inside of turn 11. His team will have its work cut out for itself as they need to make repairs in little more than 2 ½ hours before the green flag waves. Doug Boyer (#8) had trouble with turn 8 (the "Heel" of "The Boot") on two separate occasions. A spin early in the session damaged nothing but his pride. On his final flying lap, however, he slid over the curbing on the exit of the turn. The car snapped to the inside, slamming the tire barrier, heavily damaging the left side of the machine. Ryan Justice (#38) lost control of his machine as he tried to negotiate the Inner Loop. Fortunately for him, his car slid to a stop in the gravel trap before hitting anything solid.
