Watkins Glen International will once again partake in New York State's largest motorsports exposition and trade show at the 22nd Annual Motorsports Expo being held at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, NY, March 7-9, 2008. The historic road course will feature its NASCAR Nationwide Series show car, one from the NASCAR Camping World Series and possibly an IndyCar® Series car at its display. Dustin Delaney, a highly regarded rookie in the NASCAR Camping World Series East Division and modified star, will be signing autographs at the WGI display on Saturday, March 8.
Fans can plan on having more than a few ways to feed their need for racing when they visit the WGI display. First, they can get up-close and personal with the #33 Camping World show car driven by Kevin Harvick in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, the #39 Delaney Construction car driven by Dustin Delaney in the NASCAR Camping World Open Series East Division and possibly the aforementioned IndyCar® Series car with a special wrap and decals. Second, they can hop into one of two racing simulators and challenge the twists and turns of The Glen just like their favorite NASCAR driver. Third, they can pick-up the most up-to-date information about The Glen and speak to several WGI staff members about the upcoming action-packed season. Finally, NASCAR Camping World Series East Division rookie and modified star Dustin Delaney will make an appearance on Saturday to sign autographs from 12 PM - 2 PM. The booth will be open to fans 5:00 PM - 10:00 PM on Friday, March 7, 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM on Saturday, March, 8, and 11:00 AM - 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 9. Fans will be able to find the booth in the middle of the show room floor across from the stage. The price of admission at the show is $10 for a one-day adult pass, $5 for a one-day kid's pass and FREE for children under 6.
Dustin Delaney, 17, first sparked his bright racing career in the Albany Saratoga Speedway go-cart division at the eager young age of 9. Since then he has gone on to win the points championship in the Sportsman Modified Division, named "Racer of the Month" for Team Kendall Racing and received the prestigious "Driver of the Year" award from the New York State Stock Car Association. This year Dustin, armed with former three-time Camping World Series Driver of the Year Jaime Aube as his new crew chief, will take on the highly competitive NASCAR Camping World Series East Division bumping and grinding with teams owned by the likes of Earnhardt, Hendrick, Gibbs and Childress.
You can watch Delaney take on The Soul of American Road Racing when Watkins Glen International's long-standing sports car race, the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen, which will run on Saturday, June 7, is joined this year by the NASCAR Camping World Series East Division on Sunday, June 8. The NASCAR Camping World Series East Division, previously called the NASCAR Grand National Division Busch North Series, ran at Watkins Glen International from 1993 - 2004. Brad Leighton of Center Harbor New Hampshire is the most recent defending champion, winning the 2004 Mohegan Sun 150. The pole was won that year by two-time Glen winner, Andy Santerre.
Tickets for the racing action at Watkins Glen International are on-sale now and can be purchased at the Syracuse Motorsports Expo all weekend. This year the season kicks-off with the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series, June 6-7 and is paired with the NASCAR Camping World Series' East Division on Sunday, June 8.
