NFL Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas Coming to The Glen
Former Buffalo Bills Great to be Honorary Starter New York Race Fans that attend this year's Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen will see a familiar face from Sundays gone by, waving the green flag for the famed endurance race. Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame running back, Thurman Thomas, will be the Honorary Starter of this year's Sahlen's event. The green flag will drop on the 27th Running of the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen at 11:15 AM on Saturday, June 7. Thomas will be involved in several activities during the weekend besides his responsibilities as Honorary Starter. The drivers of the Rolex Series will get their chance to meet The "Thurmantor" when he attends their drivers' meeting on Saturday, June 7. Following the checkered flag, Thomas will head to Gatorade Victory Lane, so he can assist in presenting the Bob Snodgrass Memorial Trophy to the race winners. Thomas' day will not end with the trophy presentation, as he will go to Turn 10 to help judge the 2nd Annual Sahlen's Hot Dog Eating Contest at 5:30 PM. Fans should plan on keeping their eyes open because Thomas is staying at The Soul of American Road Racing as the guest of title sponsor Joe Sahlen and will be walking throughout the facility during the event weekend. "Everyone at Sahlen's is honored to have Thurman as our Official Starter for the Sahlen's 6 Hours," said Joe Sahlen, owner of Sahlen Packaging Company and sponsor of the Sahlen's Six Hours of The Glen. "Having been a life long Bills fan, it is very exciting to have Thurman waving the Green Flag for the race we are sponsoring. We have been a long time season ticket holder and have been the Official Hot Dog of the Bills for several years."
