The pre-race ceremony for the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen will be a patriotic affair to pay tribute to our Nation’s independence with the help of several military branches.  Whether you are looking for entertainment, thrills or just patriotism, the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen Pre-Race Ceremony will have it.

For fans that like big thrills, the ceremony will feature a fly-over by “Fat Albert” and a jump by the Elk Creek Skydivers.  Fat Albert is a USMC C-130T Hercules, which currently flies as a part of the Blue Angels, a Navy squadron.  The massive plane is used for transporting cargo and short aerial demonstrations before select air shows.  Fat Albert’s trademark move, a jet-engine assisted take-off makes the crowd go wild every time.  The Elk Creek Skydivers is a three-man jump team that will be making their second appearance at WGI for the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen.  This year, the group’s jump will feature a checkered flag and smoke machines.  Look for the Elk Creek Skydivers to land in Turn 1 during the pre-race ceremony.

Performing the national anthem will be Prime Time Brass, a 15-member band consisting of brass players and drummers.  The Prime Time Brass consists of some of the best players from Western New York and Canada.  Since many of the players’ backgrounds included drum and bugle corps, the group went on to compete in the DCA World Championship for brass ensembles and won the competition’s highest honor on two occasions.

Color guards for the 5th Annual Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen weekend, July 3-5, will be provided by the Army National Guard and the Air Force.  The 27th Brigade Combat Unit of the U. S. Army National Guard, from Syracuse N.Y., will provide the honor guard for the Corning 100 on Saturday and the Camping World Grand Prix on Sunday.  On Sunday, the U.S. Army National Guard will be joined by the Niagara Falls Air Force Honor Guard, who will also present our Nation’s colors.
