Paul Tracy will make his WGI debut in the Camping World Grand Prix on Sunday, July 5th.
Officials from Watkins Glen International are happy to announce that one of the most controversial and colorful open-wheel race legends, Paul Tracy, is among the expected 25 entrants for the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen, July 3-5. Tracy, a native of Toronto, Ontario, is slated to drive the No. 15 KV Racing Technology Dallara. The green flag will drop at 1:30 pm and will air live on ABC in the U.S.
“Now I have the opportunity to compete on one of the most famous circuits in the world for the first time,” said Tracy. “It feels a little strange that at this stage of my career that there are still some exciting challenges left and racing at Watkins Glen, with all its history, is definitely a challenge, but one I am looking forward to meeting.”
The 40-year-old Canadian driver launched his career in kart racing, and has since won everything from most popular driver awards to championships. Despite all of his history and success in open-wheel racing, the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen will provide Tracy with a new challenge—a new track to conquer.
“It is amazing to me that Paul Tracy has never competed at our historic road-course in his career and we are thrilled to see him join the already exciting lineup during the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen weekend,” stated Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “We hope that our neighbors in Canada will come to our track to enjoy the unique racing and fan experiences that we offer, in order to cheer on one of their own.”
Tracy competed last month for KV Racing in the Indianapolis 500. This will be his second start of the season and will mark his inaugural run here at – The Soul of American Road Racing. To celebrate the driver’s first race at The Glen, Tracy fans are invited to buy a ticket for the special “Thrill from West Hill” fan section in the upper deck of the FrontStretch Grandstand. The first 100 fans to purchase a ticket in this section will be given a special commemorative poster autographed by Tracy. Tickets for the section will be $70 and include weekend admission, a reserved seat with Jumbotron view on Sunday, July 5th, and access to all of the off-track activities such as the mandatory IndyCar Series driver autograph session and Presidents of the United States of America concert live on The Red Cat Summer Stage. Fans looking to redeem this offer need to call 866-610- RACE (7223).
