Opening Weekend at The Glen to Benefit Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection

Approximately 40 students participating in the program will come down to The Soul of American Road Racing to get a ride around the track and experience the excitement of the historic road course firsthand on Sunday. The teens will also get a chance to take their picture in Gatorade Victory Lane and get a behind-the-scenes glance of track operations.
“Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection is grateful for its partnership with Watkins Glen International and is excited to receive the proceeds from Opening Weekend,” said Executive Director of Hillside Work-Scholarship Connection, Roderick Green. “We are always looking to share new opportunities with our students – they are excited to visit Watkins Glen for the very first time to experience a world-class racetrack.”
“We are thrilled to be able to use Watkins Glen International as a platform to help raise money and awareness for such a phenomenal program,” stated Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “The event has become a tradition for several car clubs and enthusiasts. It is a great way to get fans to come to the track to save money on tickets, get excited about the upcoming season, and help out a great cause!”
Opening Day at Watkins Glen International has traditionally been the day that fans can drive the historic road course to celebrate the opening of a new season. The track has traditionally held Opening Day on the last Sunday in April and has expanded the event to the entire weekend to cover both Saturday, April 24 and Sunday, April 25 this year. During Opening Weekend fans will get to drive three laps around the same turns as many legends of motorsports for only $25 per vehicle. Tickets can be purchased in advance at any Wegmans store located in Rochester, Syracuse, or the Southern Tier and will be available at the gate during the event. Gates will open each day at 9:00am with laps starting at 10:00am and ending at 4:30pm.

Fans can take advantage of advanced sale prices and new options by calling the Watkins Glen International ticket office at 866-461-RACE (7223) or logging on to the official website, www.TheGlen.com. Tickets, gift certificates and track merchandise can all be purchased at The Shop located at 2 North Franklin Street in downtown Watkins Glen. The Shop is open Monday-Friday 9-5, Saturday 9-4, and is closed Sunday.
