Indy-Pendence Day Fireworks are On-Track

Fireworks will be both on and off the racetrack all weekend long during the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen.
During the 4th of July weekend, fireworks will be both on and off the racetrack all weekend long during the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen. WGI and WENY-TV will combine forces to present the Indy-Pendence Kick-Off Celebration on Friday, July 2 at Clute Park in the Village of Watkins Glen. Fireworks will continue following the concert on the Red Cat Summer Stage on Saturday at approx. 9:45 PM and for a final time following the conclusion of the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen race on Sunday – The 4th of July.
The Indy-Pendence Kick-Off Celebration will begin at 12:00 PM and culminate with a fireworks spectacular over Seneca Lake at 9:45 PM. The family-friendly event will have a race theme in honor of the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen race weekend, July 2-4, at Watkins Glen International. There will be plenty of carnival food, rides and games for everyone to enjoy. Fans can taste samples from some of the top local wineries with “A Toast to Independence.” Airco will provide inflatable rides for kids to enjoy, and for fans of all ages the IZOD IndyCar Series Fan Zone will also be at the park. The exhibit will have duel race simulators allowing fans to test their ability of racing around a track, as well as several walkthrough trailers. Also on-site, will be a memorabilia and merchandise hauler where fans can buy gear to support their favorite IZOD IndyCar Series driver in the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen.
The Indy-Pendence Celebration is just one of the family-friendly activities that can be found at Watkins Glen over the holiday weekend. Watkins Glen International will be hosting five races from three series with plenty of off-track entertainment as well, all weekend long, over the holiday weekend. The races begin on Saturday morning with the F2000 Championship Series race, along with IZOD IndyCar Series qualifying, races for both the GT and TC classes of the SCCA World Challenge Series. Also on Saturday, fans can attend all-driver autograph sessions for both the IZOD IndyCar Series and the World Challenge, concerts by Ithaca, NY-based electro-rock band Jimkata and Denver, CO-based rock band Kinetix on the Red Cat Summer Stage, and a viewing party for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race in Daytona. On Sunday, fans can watch another race from the F2000 Championship Series, while they get ready to cheer on their favorite IZOD IndyCar Series drivers in the Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen, which begins at 3:30 PM on Sunday afternoon. Adults can attend all of these events with the purchase of a single weekend ticket. To make it even better, kids 15 and under get FREE general admission with the purchase of an adult ticket.
Tickets for the entire 2010 season at Watkins Glen International are on sale now! Celebrate the Fourth of July with the 6th Annual Camping World Grand Prix at The Glen weekend, July 2-4. On-track action will be headlined by the IZOD IndyCar Series, Firestone Indy Lights, F2000 Championship Series and the SCCA World Challenge. Weekend tickets begin at just $45, and general admission for kids 15 and under is FREE when accompanied by an adult.
