The McDonald's Kids Zone is the place to be for families and is free for the entire Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen weekend.
McDonald’s and Watkins Glen International have renewed their partnership for the next three years which is great news for families. Not only does McDonald’s remain the official drive-thru restaurant of WGI but the family-friendly atmosphere of the McDonald’s Family Zone will continue to provide fun for children of all ages. The McDonald’s Family Grandstand offers a smoke and alcohol-free area for families to watch all of the racing action at an affordable price and the McDonald’s Kid Zone is home to games, inflatables, McDonald’s characters, and driver question and answer sessions. The kid zone will be open 10:00 A.M. – 2:00 P.M. on Friday, August 6, and Saturday, August 7, and then 9:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 8.
"The 95 McDonald's Restaurants of Central New York and Northern Pennsylvania have sponsored the McDonald's Family Zone at Watkins Glen International for four years now," said Jeff Parker, McDonald's Owner/Operator of Elmira, Horseheads and Ithaca, NY. "The kids’ zone has been very popular with our families who are looking for kid-friendly entertainment for their children between races. We're very excited to have Jamie McMurray as a part of the McDonald's family and a part of this year's family zone. Our customers and fans look forward to seeing our drivers each year and Jamie's recent win at the Brickyard 400 makes his appearance at the zone on Sunday a very special event. We're looking forward to cheering him on from the stands."
“McDonald’s has been a great partner and has done so much for our fans over the last three years, so we are thrilled about this renewal,” said Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “The McDonald’s Family Grandstand is once again sold out showing the popularity of this affordable option for families. We appreciate McDonald’s efforts in not only promoting our events, but enhancing the experience of our fans while they are here.”
While the McDonald’s Family Grandstand is sold-out the Kids Zone that is adjacent to that grandstand is still open and for free for any ticket holder. Families will have the chance to talk to both drivers of the Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team during the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen event weekend. Road racing ace Juan Pablo Montoya will stop by for a Q&A at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday and 2010 Daytona 500 and Brickyard 400 champion Jamie McMurray will take his turn at 9:00 A.M. on Sunday.
Again this year, the McDonald’s Kid Zone will be filled with all of your children’s favorite activities which will include special appearances by McDonald’s own Grimace and Hamburglar. Grimace and Hamburglar will be visiting the McDonald’s Kid Zone throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. In addition to appearances, kids can play various carnival-type games based on the McDonald’s Characters, play in inflatable games, or even ride a train around the play area. A special Craft Corner will allow kids to create their own artwork, or even have their face painted.
Come celebrate the 25th running of NASCAR racing at the legendary road course in 2010 during the Heluva Good Sour Cream Dips at The Glen weekend, August 5-8. Tickets are still available.
