Fans Have Until Sunday, November 14, to Send Nominations to Racing@TheGlen.com
By: WGI Staff on 10/20/2010
Fans are being asked to submit nominees to join Hurley Haywood (left) in the Legends of The Glen.
The guidelines for submitting nominations are very simple and fans are welcome to submit as many as they wish. All nominations can be sent to the WGI email address, email@example.com, and must include the person’s name, a list of their accomplishments at The Glen, and a brief explanation detailing the reasons that the person deserves to be included in the Legends of The Glen. They can also be mailed to Watkins Glen International – Legends, 2790 County Rte. 16, Watkins Glen, N.Y. 14891. Fans can nominate anyone that has had a positive and/or significant impact on WGI and its history. This includes team owners, former WGI staff, officials, and any current or retired driver. The only requirement is that fans only include the accomplishments achieved at The Glen and not at other locations.
The Legends of The Glen was started in 2008 as part of the 60th anniversary of racing in Watkins Glen and continues to be awarded in honor of individuals that have made a significant impact on The Glen’s history. So far 12 people have been inducted in the program; Cameron and Jean Argetsinger, Jim Reisbeck, Phil Walters, Walter Hansgen, Graham Hill, Sir Jackie Stewart, Jim Clark, Al Holbert, Hurley Haywood, Mark Martin, and Tony Stewart.
