Bob Sharp to be Honored Guest and Grand Marshal

WATKINS GLEN, NY - Welliver and Glenora Wine Cellars have renewed their partnership with Watkins Glen International and will continue as the sponsors for the popular, season-ending Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver, September 9-11. As such, Glenora Riesling wine will be poured in Gatorade Victory Lane throughout all of the victory celebrations during the race weekend. In addition to announcing the continued partnership, Watkins Glen International is proud to announce Bob Sharp as the honored guest and Grand Marshal for the weekend.
“Welliver and Glenora are two of the most recognized and respected businesses, not just in Schuyler County, but the entire region,” said Michael Printup, president of Watkins Glen International. “We continue to host one of the largest vintage racing weekends in the country and attract dedicated race fans from both near and far. The drawing power of this event makes WGI the perfect platform for Welliver and Glenora to connect with not only our fans, but also the many great competitors that return every year.”
Based in Montour Falls, NY, Welliver was founded in Ridgebury, PA in 1898 and is currently led by the fourth and fifth generations of the Welliver family. With a rich history combined with quality services, Welliver provides a cutting-edge and cost-effective approach to building projects for all major industry segments, primarily for colleges and universities, science and technology, healthcare, manufacturing, government and industry. The company delivers an array of building construction and facility-related services to prominent clients throughout the eastern United States and has become one of the largest commercial builders located in central New York State.
“It is with great pride that my company is part of this exceptional race event again this year. I look forward to driving the track with my co-driver Elliot Forbes-Robinson once again, following the great time we had last year,” stated Scott Welliver, chairman and CEO of Welliver. “I am excited that Welliver and Glenora have the opportunity to be involved in our community by honoring its race history.”
Welliver’s interest in Watkins Glen International extends beyond that of a sponsor as he is a race car driver himself and co-drove with last season’s Grand Marshal, Elliot Forbes-Robinson.
Bob Sharp is Watkins Glen International’s honored guest and Grand Marshal of the Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver. Before establishing himself as a Datsun dealer in Wilton, Conn., where he currently resides, Sharp collected over 20 National titles in SCCA competition.
