NASCAR is Back at The Glen in 2012
NASCAR Sprint Cup, NASCAR Nationwide and GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Combine for Action-Packed Weekend August 9-12
WATKINS GLEN, NY – The Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver marked the finale of the 2011 race season at Watkins Glen International and the historic road course is already looking ahead to 2012. WGI is proud to announce that during the weekend of August 9-12, The Soul of American Road Racing will host the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the 27th consecutive time on Sunday, August 12. The Zippo 200 NASCAR Nationwide and Continental Tire 200 presented by Dunn Tire GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series races will both return on Saturday, August 11. Moved from the traditional weekend a season ago, this is the second-consecutive year that Watkins Glen International is set to host NASCAR the second weekend of August.
“This announcement is just our first step in revving up for the 2012 season at Watkins Glen International,” said Watkins Glen International president Michael Printup. “Many have called our 2011 Sprint Cup race the best of the NASCAR season and we have received a tremendous amount of positive feedback regarding the fan-focused improvements we made to our legendary facility. We cannot wait to host our fans for what will undoubtedly be an exciting weekend and part of another outstanding season at The Glen.”
Tickets for the 2012 season are expected to go on sale in late November 2011. Renewal information will be sent to 2011 ticket holders in early October providing them with the first opportunity to purchase their seats and camping prior to tickets going on sale to the general public.
