Family camping will expand for The Glen's NASCAR Weekend in 2012.
WATKINS GLEN, NY – Watkins Glen International is proud to announce that due to demand and fan feedback, the family camping area that was introduced during the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend will expand in 2012. The popular area will nearly double in size and continue to feature reserved weekend campsites while offering a quieter, more laid back and family friendly experience. This camping option will only be available during the 2012 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at The Glen event weekend, August 9-12.
Just a short walk from the McDonald’s Family Grandstand and Kids’ Zone, guests staying in Family Camping can expect strict enforcement of the standard quiet hours (11:00 PM – 6:00 AM) and more regular patrols by WGI staff and security. The family camping area features non-trackside reserved sites located just outside the East Tunnel along the backstretch of the historic road course. There are a limited number of sites available and at the advanced sale price of $225, which is the same as any non-trackside reserved campsite elsewhere around the historic road course, they will go quickly. 2011 customers will have the first chance to reserve or upgrade to a site in Family Camping when 2012 renewal brochures go out in mid October. The general public will get their opportunity to purchase one of the coveted spots when tickets go on-sale in early December.
Tickets for the 2012 race season at Watkins Glen International go on sale this December.
