Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy Encourages Responsible Fun This Weekend
Programs and Services Offered to Ensure Safe and Responsible Drinking
WATKINS GLEN, NY – Watkins Glen International will provide a designated driver program to ensure the safety of the crowd during the 16th Annual Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese, July 13-15. Designated drivers’ receive a discounted price on admission with access to the entire festival. They will be able to experience all the art and crafts vendors, attend cooking seminars, listen to live music prior to providing their family and friends a safe ride home. Blood alcohol content (BAC) testing conducted by the Schulyer County Sheriff’s Department will take place throughout the Festival.
Unlimited, free, non-alcoholic beverages are provided for designated drivers, including Dasani water, Coca-Cola products and juices provided by Fulkerson Winery (Booth #45-48) and Barrington Cellars (Booth #122-123). Designated drivers will also receive a complimentary Taster’s glass upon leaving the Festival, as sampling by patrons with a designated driver admission pass will not be tolerated.
To aid in responsible drinking and the safety of festival guests, The Glen and the Schulyer County Sherriff’s Department offer (BAC) testing at the Festival. At these booths, guests can stop in and monitor their BACs and adjust their drinking accordingly. There will also be sobriety checkpoints at the Festival’s exit to aid in determining who should and should not be driving. Guests will have the opportunity to switch drivers, call a taxi, or simply sit and wait before leaving The Glen. For tasters who have no interest in driving during the Finger Lakes Wine Festival, camping for the weekend is the best option. The Glen’s GEICO Unreserved Camping passes are still available for $45, allowing tasters to stay on Festival grounds.
In addition, guests are invited to participate in the “Ride the Bus” program, which is a special shuttle service provided by Terp’s Enterprise. The shuttles will operate on a designated schedule and provide service to several area hotels, including Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express. Tickets for the 2012 Finger Lakes Wine Festival at The Glen are on sale! Fans may purchase their tickets and camping by contacting the WGI ticket office in person or by calling 866.461.7223 or logging on to the official website, www.FLWineFest.com. Gift certificates, tickets and track merchandise are available for purchase at The Shop located at 2 North Franklin Street in Watkins Glen.
