Breaks Previous Record with a Lap of 127.020 mph

WATKINS GLEN, NY –  Juan Pablo Montoya clocked the fastest speed in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Qualifying at The Glen, breaking the track record with a lap of 127.020 mph.  Kyle Busch, who also clocked a speed faster than the record, will join Montoya on the front row for the start of the Finger Lakes 355 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, August 12.

The previous qualifying record was held by Busch who posted a lap of 126.421 mph on August 15, 2011.  The top five qualifiers, Montoya, Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Brad Keselowski and Marcos Ambrose all surpassed the previous record.    

Ryan Newman, Tony Stewart, Clint Bowyer, Martin Truex Jr. and Jamie McMurray will round out the top 10 for Sunday’s event.
