Guests of The Glen: Elliot Forbes-Robinson and Lyn St. James Return For Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver
WATKINS GLEN, NY – Elliot Forbes-Robinson and Lyn St. James return to Watkins Glen International as special guests for the Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver event weekend (Sept. 7-9). Both served as Grand Marshal for the event in previous years with Forbes-Robinson fulfilling those duties in 2010 and St. James in 2009.
Forbes-Robinson made his professional motorsport debut in a 289 Ford Cobra and went on to record victories in five-consecutive decades, earning 51 major victories in his career. In 1997, he claimed the overall Rolex 24 at Daytona victory in a Ford Riley & Scott and repeated the feat in 1999. Among his racing accomplishments, Forbes-Robinson won the inaugural ALMS Championship with Butch Leitzinger for Dyson Racing in 1999.
In 2004, Forbes-Robinson competed in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and recorded eight Top-5 finishes in 11 races. He co-drove with Leitzinger for the second-consecutive season in 2005, winning at Mid-Ohio and taking second at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona, Homestead-Miami and Laguna Seca, to finish fifth in the series standings.
St. James, one of Sports Illustrated for Women’s Top-100 Women Athletes of the Century, started in seven Indianapolis 500’s over a nine-year span, including six-consecutive starts from 1992-97. In 1995, St. James held the world record on a closed course for women with her 225.722 mph qualifying lap for the Indianapolis 500. She became the oldest driver to compete in the Indy 500 in 2000.
She also competed in 53 Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and IMSA GT races during her career. St. James served as a consumer advisor for the Ford Motor Company from 1981 to 1996. She piloted a 1981 Zakspeed IMSA Mustang Turbo GTO featured in the Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver poster artwork by Stephen Oosterling.
Both Forbes-Robinson and St. James will be at Watkins Glen International throughout the weekend taking part in fan question and answer sessions as well as autograph sessions in front of The Pyramid souvenir shop.
