WATKINS GLEN, NY – The F2000 Championship Series will celebrate its milestone 100th race as a series during Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen (June 28-30). It is a chance to see the future of racing during a weekend steeped in the potential stars of tomorrow. Patrick Carpentier, Paul Tracy, Sam Hornish Jr. and Jordan Taylor are among the distinguished alumni of F2000. Taylor is among the youngest competitors in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and co-drives the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing Corvette DP with Max Angelelli.
On Friday, June 28, F2000 is the first series to take to The Glen with a 9 a.m. practice session. The series caps off the day with a 5:35 p.m. race. F2000 will race again on Saturday at 11:55 a.m. This is by no means the first time F2000 has been at WGI or part of Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. Last season, F2000 was on track as part of a track rental and competed during the 2011 Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen weekend.
Developed in England in the mid 1970s, F2000 has gone through several evolutions to get to where it is today. F2000 Championship cars are powered by 2000cc Ford engines, have a spec tire and feature chassis manufactured by Van Diemen, Radon, RFR, Citation or Piper.
