Buffalo Sabres’ mainstay, Doug Allen, to perform the Canadian and American national anthems
Allen’s enthusiasm and delivery energizes both the fans and players as he passionately sings each anthem as they were intended to be.
WATKINS GLEN, NY – The principle singer for the Buffalo Sabres, Doug Allen, will perform the Canadian and American anthems during the pre-race of Saturday’s Continental Tire 150 and Sunday’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen. Also known as “Anthem Guy,” Allen has been singing anthems for the Buffalo Sabres for over 20 years, and will make his first appearance at Watkins Glen International.
Singing since he was just a child, Allen grew up on a family dairy farm in Cattaraugus County. Since the early 90s, Allen has been thrilling thousands of Sabres fans with his signature performance of “O Canada,” and “The Star Spangled Banner.” Allen’s enthusiasm and delivery energizes both the fans and players as he passionately sings each anthem as they were intended to be. In addition to the Buffalo Sabres, Allen has also performed at many other Buffalo sporting events.
Although he has become a local celebrity for his Sabres performances, Allen does not let the fame interfere with his primary responsibilities in life which include his work as Facilities Coordinator for the Buffalo City Mission and Worship Director at his local church, Fellowship Wesleyan Church in West Seneca.
