Launch of The Lakes Kicks Off Wine Festival
WATKINS GLEN, NY – The Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese launches on Friday evening, July 11 during the event’s traditional kick-off party, Yancey’s Fancy Launch of The Lakes. This one-of-a-kind event will once again feature uniquely themed togas, Finger Lakes wines, fireworks and a wide array of artisan cheese provided by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese.
Starting Friday, July 11 at 5 p.m., Yancey’s Fancy Launch of The Lakes is one the festival’s fastest growing events. With over 20 different wineries present, Yancey’s Fancy Launch of The Lakes is the perfect way to get into the sampling spirit in preparation for the opening of the Festival on Saturday, July 12. In addition to wine tasting, Yancey’s Fancy will also offer samples of their world famous cheese to pair with a variety of Finger Lakes wines.
Yancey’s Fancy Launch of The Lakes also includes the opportunity to win a variety of prizes in the toga contest in categories such as Best Group, Most Traditional, and The Cheesiest. Two individuals will also be crowned by Bacchus, the god of wine, as the 2014 King and Queen at the Finger Lakes’ largest toga party. The newly crowned King and Queen will receive complimentary festival passes, admission to the Tasters’ Banquet as well as entrance to the Great Western Breakfast at the 2015 Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York Artisan Cheese.
Starting at $20, tickets are available at the gate, but advance purchase is highly encouraged. Launch of the Lakes is separate from the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York Artisan Cheese, and therefore is not included in regular festival admission.
