WATKINS GLEN, NY – Watkins Glen International reminds the community of this season’s volunteer opportunities on International Volunteer Day (December 5). For local and regional non-profit, school, civic and church charitable organizations there are a variety of ways to get involved at The Glen this summer.

The Corning Lions Club will return for its 10th year as a volunteer group at WGI in 2015. The members of The Corning Lions Club enjoy the opportunity to provide customer service to guests who utilize disability carts.

“We are proud to volunteer at Watkins Glen International, helping individuals who are unable to walk or have difficulty navigating the grounds,” members of The Corning Lions Club shared. “It is a privilege to be part of premier sporting events in New York. Our participation allows us to not only assist people in need, but to also showcase our beautiful Finger Lakes Region to thousands of visitors.”

Organizations interested in volunteering during the 2015 season have a variety of opportunities at the following events: Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen (June 25-28), Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese (July 10-12), Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver (July 24-26) and Cheez-It™ 355 at The Glen (August 6-9).

Volunteer positions include, but are not limited to: disability cart operators, food and beverage service assistance, gate support, grandstand ushers, guest services, retail sales and worker registration.

Each non-profit group or charitable organization receives a donation from The Glen, acknowledging the time and effort provided.
