WATKINS GLEN, NY (March 20, 2015) – With another New York winter’s end in sight, the 2015 race season at Watkins Glen International has arrived.

To celebrate the beginning of another season at the historic road course, the two-day Opening Weekend will provide fans with the opportunity to support three local charities, save on ticket purchases for the coming season, and take their personal vehicles on the same renowned circuit that will host the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship in June, and the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in August.

Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the International Motor Racing Research Center and Corning Community College Library. In addition, on Saturday morning, The Arc of Schuyler, a non-profit organization providing support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is holding a 3.4-mile run, or one-mile walk on the track. To register, visit www.arcofschuyler.org.

“Opening Weekend is significant not only because it officially kicks off our season at WGI, but because we are able to raise money to support two fantastic, local organizations,” said Michael Printup, President of Watkins Glen International. “We are excited to welcome our fans back to the track as we gear up for another great year.”

Festivities kick off with the 11th annual Toyota Green Grand Prix, a showcase of motoring technology that aims for a cleaner environment. The Toyota Green Grand Prix is free to spectators on Friday, April 17th.

On both Saturday and Sunday, fans will have the unique opportunity to drive the track in their own vehicle, and purchase professional photographs of their car on-site or on the web (courtesy of Track Time Photos). In addition, tickets to 2015 events at Watkins Glen International will be on sale at advance prices for one final time before the seasonal increase on Monday, April 20th.

Finally, on your way home, several Watkins Glen International partners will offer promotional discounts to fans showing a 2015 WGI Opening Weekend ticket stub, including: Great Western Champagne, Glenora Wine Cellars, Corning Museum of Glass, Pole Position Raceway, Bully Hill Vineyards, and Hazlitt Vineyards.

Located within five (5) hours (~300 miles) of 25% of the US population, Watkins Glen International is the premier road racing facility in North America. Tickets for the 2015 season may be purchased by calling 866.461.RACE and online at www.TheGlen.com. Keep up with The Glen on Facebook and Twitter.
