WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (July 7, 2015) – Final preparations are being made at Watkins Glen International this week, with the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese set to return to the historic facility beginning with Friday night’s Launch of the Lakes Toga Party.

The largest wine tasting event in the Northeast, which runs through Sunday afternoon, will include live music, vendors, pace car rides, and demonstrations throughout the facility, starting with Friday night’s kick-off festivities featuring a fireworks show and revelers dressed in toga costumes. Admission to the Launch of the Lakes is separate from the Finger Lakes Wine Festival.

Throughout the weekend, the stage in the Sparkling Courtyard adjacent to Tent C will play host to several performances and demonstrations, including: ice carving from The Ice Farm and Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup, barrel making with East Coast Wood Barrels Corp., and interpretive dancing by the Wassa Pan Afrika Dance Ensemble.

For Wine Fest attendees looking to cool off indoors, wine seminars from Standing Stone Vineyards owner Martha Macinski (Media Center First Floor) and cooking demonstrations by the New York Wine and Culinary Center (Media Center Second Floor) are offered free of charge throughout the event, with first-come, first-serve availability. A full schedule is available at www.flwinefest.com.

A trademark of the annual Finger Lakes Wine Fest, the roster of live music performances is again lengthy for the July 10-12 event.
