WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (September 9, 2016) – The Sportscar Vintage Racing Association makes its first stop on the newly repaved Watkins Glen International this coming weekend, September 9-11, 2016.

The U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Jaguar is one of the most popular on the SVRA calendar and has drawn well over 400 entrants from around the world. In 2016, Jaguar and Land Rover are set to bring interactive displays complete with arrive-and-drive opportunities for fans throughout the weekend.

Located in the midway, Jaguar will offer the F-TYPE R, F-TYPE S, and XE models for autocross drives, while the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, LR4, Evoque, and Discovery Sport will be available at the Land Rover display for drives through a newly constructed off-road course within the infield of the ‘boot’ section of Watkins Glen International. Registration will take place in the midway, with availability from 9am to 5pm Friday and Saturday. Participants must be 18 years of age to ride, 21 to drive.

Veteran American racing driver Davy Jones, now a lead instructor with Jaguar, will act as the honorary starter for the Historic Trans-Am and Governor’s Cup races on Sunday. Jones has competed in NASCAR, IndyCar, and international sportscar events in his career, including first and second place overall finishes at the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

“We are extremely pleased to have Jaguar on board for the United States Vintage Grand Prix,” said Watkins Glen International president Michael Printup. “With the addition of these great, fan-friendly activities in the midway, our Vintage event continues to evolve as one of the largest in the sport.”

Jaguar Land Rover is the UK’s largest automotive manufacturer, built around two iconic British car brands: Land Rover, the world’s leading manufacturer of premium all-wheel-drive vehicles, and Jaguar, one of the world’s premier luxury sports sedan and sports car marques.
