Array of enhanced seminars available during Finger Lakes Wine Festival weekend

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (June 15, 2017) – In addition to the wineries, vendors, and visitors from all over the country, the Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese will host a multitude of wine seminars throughout the weekend.

 

During the festival, the media center at Watkins Glen International will transform into a wine-lovers paradise, offering an array of wine seminars presented by Women for WineSense. During the enhanced seminars, guests can learn more about local Finger Lakes wines and enjoy food prepared by the New York Wine and Culinary Center. Beginning at $20, there will be two seminars offered per day in the comfortable, climate-controlled media center.

 

The schedule for the enhanced seminars is as follows:

 

Dry Red Wines – A Comparative Tasting

Saturday, July 15, 11:30 a.m.

Taste two wines side by side, in elegant tasting glasses. Learn how different growing practices and winemaking techniques affect the perception of the wine in the glass. Guests will have the opportunity to taste three varieties, two wines each, all paired with delicious food.

 

Sparkling Wines – A Look into Finger Lakes History

Saturday, July 15, 2:30 p.m.

Enjoy tasting three wines side by side, made in the traditional method champenoise style, then taste three wines made in the charmant or carbonation method. Wines will be paired with food.


Single Vineyard Rieslings

Sunday, July 16, 12:00 p.m.

Experience the terroir of this wonderful grape, as you taste Rieslings from very specific locations. Learn what effect the east side and west side of each lake has on the flavors you taste in the glass.

Guests will taste three flights of two Rieslings side by side to highlight the unique attributes of many famous vineyard sites. The wines will be paired with steak, grilled sausages, grilled vegetables and more.

Dry Rosé

Sunday, July 16, 1:30 p.m.

Dry Rosé is the fastest growing wine category throughout the world, and increasingly the world is recognizing Finger Lakes Dry Rosés as among the best. Learn why this wine is so appealing, and so food friendly. You’ll also learn how many varieties can work for this wine! We’ll taste three flights of two wines, each flight from a different variety.

 

Women for WineSense believes that wine enhances and enriches everyday life. We provide women and men with unbiased information about the cultural heritage, social and health effects of moderate wine consumption as part of a healthy lifestyle. The organization is committed to offering outstanding educational programs and mentoring and networking opportunities to wine enthusiasts and industry professionals.

The Finger Lakes Wine Festival presented by Yancey’s Fancy New York’s Artisan Cheese takes place July 14-16, 2017 at Watkins Glen International. The Festival is the largest showcase of New York State wines with more than 90 wineries as well as regional artisans, music and culinary classes all in one beautiful location.
