WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 17, 2017) – Watkins Glen International will come alive on Labor Day weekend with the stars and the cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series, as they join five companion series during the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen, September 1-3.

By virtue of Scott Dixon’s blistering pole lap of 1:22.5259 (147.008 mph) last season, The Glen has been dubbed “America’s Fastest Road Course”, with fans looking ahead to the season’s penultimate race, situated in the picturesque Finger Lakes region.

“It’s Indy cars in a place where they’re really meant to shine. For the drivers, we love coming here and I think the teams do, as well,” 2015 Indianapolis 500 champion Alexander Rossi said during a recent visit to The Glen. “That reflects in terms of the show we put on and I think the fans see that. We know that Watkins Glen can bring a good crowd, and hopefully we can continue to grow that and keep putting on an amazing show for them year after year.”

This Labor Day weekend, the race weekend lineup will include the season finales for Indy Lights presented by Cooper Tires, Pro Mazda presented by Cooper Tires, and Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship presented by Mazda. The Battery Tender Global MX-5 Cup presented by Mazda and SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks will also be competing throughout the action-packed, three-day schedule.

“The Verizon IndyCar Series and Indy Lights both put on tremendous shows during last year’s return to The Glen,” said WGI President Michael Printup. “For us to have the opportunity to add another four series to that slate, it’s incredible. Our fans are going to have on-track action starting early in the morning and lasting to the early evening hours, all in addition to INDYCAR’s tremendous, fan-friendly paddock. We just can’t wait to get this event started.”
