WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (September 21, 2017) – Watkins Glen International’s non-profit RACE Foundation is joining in the relief effort for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, which battered Texas and Florida, respectively, this summer.

Proceeds from the RACE Foundation 50-50 raffles during the INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen and U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, totaling $10,000, will be donated to the NASCAR Foundation, which is spearheading the sport’s response to the two major disasters.

The NASCAR Foundation is teaming up with Feed the Children, a non-profit organization founded in 1979 to combat childhood hunger, to send truckloads of supplies to the areas affected by both storms.

Feed the Children estimates that The Glen’s donation will pay for the supplies to fill 1/3rd of a truckload for each location.

“When people need help, it is up to those with the resources to lend a hand,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “Our fans came through once again during our final two major race weekends of the season, and we’re pleased to see the proceeds going to such a place of need, with the help of the NASCAR Foundation.”

The mission of RACE (Racing and Community Enrichment) is to meet the needs of local underserved populations with a focus on youth-oriented support. The foundation uses the backing of a close-knit community to foster meaningful fundraising efforts, while leaning on support from the international racing family.
