Watkins Glen International Set to Repave in 2015

Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup announced Wednesday that the historic track will conduct a repaving project in the summer of 2015. It is the first time the track will be repaved since 1998.

    Molly Saleen to be Grand Marshal at 2012 Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver

    Molly Saleen will be participating in the annual Sportscar Vintage Racing Association event as the Grand Marshal of this years’ Glenora Wine Cellars US Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver on September 7-9. The weekend long race event is held in conjunction with the Grand Prix Festival of Watkins Glen race reenactment on the village streets.

    For the fifth year in a row, Marcos Ambrose hosts a trophy in Watkins Glen International’s Gatorade Victory Lane. Entering the final lap of Sunday’s Finger Lakes 355 at The Glen, it appeared as though Kyle Busch had the victory in hand before he lost control of his Toyota Camry in the first turn of the final lap.

    Carl Edwards Takes Checkered Flag in Zippo 200 at The Glen

    In his first NASCAR Nationwide Series appearance of the season, Carl Edwards battled with Brad Keselowski in the closing laps to win today’s Zippo 200 at Watkins Glen International. Edwards held off Keselowski during a two-lap dash on the final restart to take the checkered flag.

    Breaks Previous Record with a Lap of 127.020 mph

    Juan Pablo Montoya clocked the fastest speed in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Qualifying at The Glen, breaking the track record with a lap of 127.020 mph. Kyle Busch, who also clocked a speed faster than the record, will join Montoya on the front row for the start of the Finger Lakes 355 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race on Sunday, August 12.

    Kirt Manwaring to Serve as Grand Marshal for Finger Lakes 355 at The Glen

    Elmira, NY native and former MLB catcher Kirt Manwaring will serve as Grand Marshal for Sunday’s Finger Lakes 355 at The Glen. More accustomed to hearing “Play Ball”, Manwaring will deliver another infamous sports phrase this Sunday at Watkins Glen International; “Start Your Engines!”
