NASCAR is Back at The Glen in 2012
The Glenora Wine Cellars U.S. Vintage Grand Prix presented by Welliver marked the finale of the 2011 race season at Watkins Glen International and the historic road course is already looking ahead to 2012. WGI is proud to announce that during the weekend of August 9-12, The Soul of American Road Racing will host the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series for the 27th consecutive time on Sunday, August 12. The Zippo 200 NASCAR Nationwide and Canadian Tire 200 GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series races will both return on Saturday, August 11. Moved from the traditional weekend a season ago, this is the second-consecutive year that Watkins Glen International is set to host NASCAR the second weekend of August.

Frisselle and Richard Post Fastest Time in GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Practice
Brian Frisselle and Henri Richard, in the #77 Office Depot Doran Racing Ford Dallara (1:06.887; 131.864 mph), posted the fastest speed during the two practice sessions for the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series Canadian Tire 200 at The Glen. Defending race winners Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas, driving the #01 TELMEX BMW Riley, were fifth fastest at 1:07.073 (131.499 mph). Fastest among the GT racers were Robin Liddell and Jan Magnussen, driving the #57 Stevenson Auto Group Camaro GTR (1:13.218; 120.462 mph).

Sour Cream Dips at The Glen weekend was donated to the Food Bank of the Southern Tier on the afternoon of Monday, August 15. Established in 1981, the Food Bank of the Southern Tier has been serving the citizens of Broome, Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tioga and Tompkins Counties for the past 30 years. This opportunity allowed The Glen to give back, once again, to its local community while fulfilling the responsibilities of the national campaign developed by the AARP Foundation.

Ambrose Battles to First Career Sprint Cup Victory by Claiming Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen
Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 9 Stanley Ford, took the green-white checkered at the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips at The Glen on Monday afternoon. Ambrose finished third or better in each of his previous four Cup starts at Watkins Glen International. He passed Brad Keselowski in Turn 5 on the lap place of the green-white checkered finish to become the fifth first-time winner in the Sprint Cup Series this season, qualifying for the Sprint Summer Showdown.
