I first want to thank you for being a loyal fan of Watkins Glen International. We have said it many times, we have the best fans in motorsports and your passion for our racing and events is what makes this place special.
You have likely heard by now that several sanctioning bodies have postponed their race events in accordance with safety protocols recommended by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Watkins Glen International has postponed our Opening Weekend until further notice.
While we understand the decisions made are met with some feelings of disappointment, we must focus on the safety and well-being of our fans, staff and competitors. This is a time when decisions made are for the greater good.
We will remain in close communication with all of our sanctioning bodies and rely on the guidance of medical experts, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the World Health Organization as this medical event progresses.
Most importantly, we encourage you to be smart and safe during this challenging time, and to follow the precautionary measures recommended by the CDC and World Health Organization.
