Watkins Glen International Partners with Neighbor The Esses at Watkins Glen

to Sponsor Michelin Pilot Challenge Race

Recently announced development project enters multi-year deal

as entitlement partner of IMSA weekend event

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (January 26, 2024) — Welcome to the neighborhood! Watkins Glen International‘s newest neighbor, the recently announced development project The Esses at Watkins Glen, has entered into a multi-year partnership to sponsor the Michelin Pilot Challenge race on Saturday, June 22, during the IMSA race weekend.

The Esses 120 at The Glen in the Michelin Pilot Challenge will be a two-hour race on Saturday, leading into Sunday‘s Sahlen‘s Six Hours of The Glen IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship race. The series is IMSA‘s showcase for the latest American-made and imported high-performance sports cars, coupes, hatchbacks and sedans — and features the same cars seen on streets and highways around the world.

“We have a focus on supporting our community around Watkins Glen International and it means so much when they support us,” said Dawn Burlew, President of Watkins Glen International. “The Esses at Watkins Glen will quite literally be our neighbor and their residents will have a great sense of pride in being associated with one of the most exciting races of the year.”

The Esses at Watkins Glen is a new community geared towards motorsports enthusiasts, located on a 172-acre property located adjacent to Watkins Glen International. The project is set to feature limited availability single-family homes, condominiums, storage garages, trailer parking and preserved nature trails for recreation.

“The Esses 120 at Watkins Glen represents our vision and long-term commitment to a strong relationship with Watkins Glen International as we progress into development of the Esses at Watkins Glen. We look forward to transitioning the race entitlement into multiple track rental days when they become available in the future, ” said Alex Wolenski, CEO. “This is a unique opportunity to introduce to the world this one- of-a-kind community to join with like-minded motorsports enthusiasts in the backyard of such a spectacular venue.”

In 2023, Turner Motorsport and BMW pulled off a one-two finish while holding off the field in a trio of full-course cautions in the final 30 minutes of a chaotic race. The win also marked the third consecutive for Turner Motorsport at the historic New York road course.

The Esses 120 at The Glen Michelin Pilot Challenge race on Saturday, June 23, will be part of an action-packed weekend of IMSA action. For more details and for tickets to the Esses 120 at The Glen and the rest of the Sahlen‘s Six Hours of The Glen racing action, fans can visit www.theglen.com.
