FACILITY MAPS
Overview
This map shows the General Admission Camping areas at Watkins Glen International. These zones are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are generally unreserved, providing flexible space for tent campers, small RVs, and group setups across large grassy fields. The map also highlights key access roads, gates, and nearby track sections.
Location and Orientation
General Admission Camping is spread across multiple outfield areas of the facility, primarily outside the main racetrack:
-
Gate 1 General Admission Camping
-
Located on the northwest side of the track, accessed via Gate 1.
-
Positioned near Lots L through R, and commonly used during larger race weekends.
-
-
Gate 4 General Admission Camping
-
Positioned on the northeast side, accessed via Gate 4.
-
Located near the Seneca Camping Area, close to pedestrian access routes and shuttle service.
-
-
Gate 6 General Admission Camping
-
Found on the eastern edge of the property, near Route 16 and Bronson Hill Road.
-
Tends to be used for overflow or late arrivals.
-
-
Outfield Area Across from Turns 1–4
-
General Admission campers may be placed across from Turn 1 or the Esses, in grassy hillside areas with natural views of the track.
-
Camping Setup and Features
-
Campsites are not pre-assigned: campers choose a location upon arrival within the marked boundaries of the general admission zones.
-
Terrain is grassy and generally flat, but can be uneven in places depending on weather.
-
Camping areas are defined with temporary signage, rope lines, or flags during events.
-
There are no marked rows or site numbers.
Access and Movement
-
Gates 1, 4, and 6 are primary access points for these camping areas.
-
Internal gravel roads and grass lanes allow vehicle movement between camping zones and central facilities.
-
Campers must follow event staff directions to avoid overcrowding and to maintain access lanes.
Amenities (Typical)
-
Portable restrooms are spaced regularly throughout general admission areas.
-
Trash and recycling bins are placed along perimeter roads.
-
Some areas may offer:
-
Water refill stations
-
Access to shower trailers
-
Mobile concessions (especially near larger camping clusters)
-
Viewing and Proximity
-
These areas are not trackside, but many offer short walks to general admission berms near Turns 1, 2, and 4.
-
Pedestrian bridges or tunnels connect these zones to infield and grandstand areas during events.
Accessibility Considerations
-
Terrain may not be ideal for all mobility devices due to uneven grassy surfaces.
-
There are no marked ADA-designated campsites in general admission zones.
-
Guests needing accessibility support (e.g., level ground, proximity to restrooms) should contact WGI Guest Services before arrival to request a more suitable placement.
-
Shuttle stops are located nearby at major gates for transport into the venue.
Rules and Use Guidelines
-
First-come, first-served: arrive early to claim a preferred location.
-
Campfires, generators, and grills must comply with WGI fire safety rules.
-
All vehicles and tents must stay within marked camping boundaries.
-
Quiet hours are enforced during overnight periods.
-
Two motorized vehicle passes per site is standard unless otherwise posted.
